What type of microcontroller are you using? Usually the vast majority of microcontrollers nowdays include UART peripherals and you can interface external ICs connecting with the Tx, Rx pins and ground.
Or maybe you are asking for how to interface some type of UART chips like FTDIs in a PCB with a microcontroller?
